A South African woman has broken the Guinness World record by giving birth to 10 babies at once

The Guinness World Records for most children delivered at once to survive was currently held by Nadya Suleman, who gave birth to six boys and two girls in California, US, in 2009.

Last month, a Malian woman, 25 years, gave birth to nine babies, two more than doctors had detected during medical scans.

On Monday night, a 37 years old South African women named Gosiame Thamara Sithole gave birth to 10 babies via C-section, in which seven boys and three girls.

She was seven months and seven days pregnant, when she gave birth. Sithole previously gave birth to twins, who are now six years old.

Teboho Tsotetsi, Sithole’s husband said that the doctors had detected eight babies during the medical scans, two less than delivered.

She and the 10 bundles of joy are doing well and still in hospital and would remain there until they are stronger said Teboho Tsotetsi.

Phumla Williams, Director General at Government Communication Information System (GCIS), South Africa, posted on Twitter that authorities could not find any evidence of the births.

Williams then tagged IOL news, news, and information website based in South Africa that originally broke the story, suggesting that the news might be fake
